INTO THE MOUNTAINS
Have you ever wondered why we named our Lastwolf® Jackets after the highest US mountains? Well that´s because we wanted to honor wilderness, freedom, history but most of all their spectacular beauty and imposing presence that has been part of the history of this country.
There is something magical and peaceful about stepping into the wild and explore the mountains of our country, whether your destination is the jagged ranges of Alaska, the towering foggy peaks of the Smoky Mountains in The Appalachians or the historic Rocky Mountains. The mountains of the United States offer an incomparable opportunity to rejoin the sun and the air in unique rides, fishing trips, morning hikes or whatever your outdoor activity is, so, take your motorcycle, your 4WD, your hiking boots, a bottle of water and get ready to explore the most impressive places in this beautiful country.
The Appalachian Mountains stretch for 1,500 miles along the east coast of the United States from northern Alabama to Maine. They played an important role in the early history of this country, as they served as a barrier to the expansion of the first colonies. The Crown of Great Britain even agreed with the Native American tribes that settlers would not establish beyond the Appalachian Mountains, however, the expedition members soon found passes and trails through the mountains.
As part of the Appalachian Mountains, located in northeastern New York, the Adirondacks are an ideal getaway for New Yorkers who want to escape the hecticness of the city and experience full nature. From spring to winter, these mountains are extremely beautiful with a wide variety of activities such as kayaking, hiking, camping, enjoying the change of color of the foliage un autumn, and skiing. The area also has spectacular panoramic views and several charming small towns. A great deal for a biker weekend ride.
The Rocky Mountains also offers great places for the outdoors life lovers. Reflected in the mirror of a lake's crystal-clear waters, the two snow-capped giants make up the impressive peaks called Maroon Peak that anchor themselves to a symphony of color that changes with the seasons. Located at the foot of the Maroon Glacier Valley -a product of geological activity of more than 300 million years- the 14,000-foot peaks are a true example of the beauty of this country.
The Wheeler Peak Trail leads to the highest point in New Mexico. It is a very well-marked trail and a favorite in the southern Rocky Mountains. Once you hover above the tree line, the winds intensify up to 50 mph + and you are heavily exposed to the sun / elements. The upper third consists mainly of rocky treks where you ascend 3000 feet in 4 miles. Once at the summit, there are beautiful views of the Taos Ski Valley, the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, and the surrounding Wheeler Peak Wilderness. It's a great weekend trip and one of the best peak climbs in the United States.
At Lastwolf® we are passionate of nature and enjoy sharing the Great American Outdoors and what it represents to adventure: The spirit of the wild, the heart of the Wolf.
